Kima: The Nordvest Spot I’ll Never Stop Recommending

I’ll admit it: I hadn’t been back to Kima since October, and after my most recent Friday night date with my friend there, I realized... that was a massive mistake!

If you aren’t familiar, Kima is the cool, younger sibling to Nørrebro’s Omar and Vesterbro’s Lamar. It’s that perfect "hip small-plates and natural wine" spot that Nordvest was craving. It sits on a busy corner, but once you step inside, the traffic fades away, replaced by a buzzing atmosphere and a staff so friendly you’ll want to be their best friend by the time dessert arrives.

The "Friday Night Date" Experience

We went for the full set menu this time, and it was a masterclass in flavor. We started the night with two Vermouth Tonics (white for me, red for her) while we waited for the magic to begin.

The Highlights of the Menu:

  • The Bread & Sauce: Focaccia and haydari arrived alongside Mussels in Tom Kha & Pak Choi. The sauce was so incredible we were both literally making noises of amazement.

  • The Discovery: We had Fried Jerusalem Artichokes with café de paris beurre blanc and hazelnuts. It was my first time having them fried, and wow—an absolute game-changer.

  • The Comfort: Gnocchi Parisienne in a skimmed mushroom stock with thyme oil. If you know me, you know I’m in heaven the second mushrooms are involved.

  • The Mains: Perfectly fried Haddock with rösti and grilled butter sauce, followed by a meat course that paired beautifully with charred Brussels sprouts.

The Wine & The Sweet Finish

The sommelier recommended a bottle of Point de Chute (Jacquère). It was exactly what we wanted—crisp, thoughtful, and a perfect pairing for the progression of dishes.

We finished with a vanilla ice cream topped with Daim and banana ganache. Honestly? This was much more my speed than the licorice-flavored dessert I tried on a previous visit. We ended the night with one more glass of wine "for the road," soaking in the vibes.

Why You Need to Go (or Go Back?)

Kima is the kind of place that feels high-end in quality but totally casual in spirit. Whether you’re sitting outside under the heaters in winter or people-watching in the summer sun, it never misses.

Pro-Tip: If you’re two people, the set menu is a fantastic way to experience the range of the kitchen, but the beauty of Kima is the flexibility: you can also start with a few plates and keep them coming as you go!

Don’t wait as long as I did to go back. Nordvest is lucky to have this corner.

Quick Info:

  • Vibe: Buzzing, hip, friendly.

  • Food: Seasonal small plates (approx. 6–7 for two people).

  • Drinks: Incredible natural wine selection & great Vermouth tonics.

  • Seating: Cozy indoor tables + heated outdoor seating.
