Flying Couch: Nordvest’s Hidden Beer Gem

Flying Couch hasn’t been open for ages, but it’s quickly become one of my go-to spots for sunny afternoons and discovering new favorite beers. Tucked away on a quiet residential street in Nordvest, you’d never guess this modern, cool beer bar is just around te corner.

One of Flying Couch’s biggest strengths? The vibe. The brewery is right next door to the bar, and you can even catch glimpses of the brewing process from inside. But the real highlight is their massive outdoor backyard. Long wooden tables are scattered around, creating a laid-back, summery atmosphere that’s perfect for enjoying the sunshine with a cold beer and a few snacks.

Flying Couch also benefits from its location. The bar’s yard opens onto the street where some of the neighborhood’s street parties are held, making it a hub for local festivities. You’ll feel right in the middle of the action when one of those events kicks off.

If you’re planning a food and drinks tour of Nordvest, this spot should be on your list. It’s close to other popular spots like Tribeca and Hubb, so it’s the perfect stop for a pre-dinner drink or a casual hangout before heading out to explore more of the city.

As for the beers themselves, I’ve had some great surprises here. Over the past couple of years, two standouts have been a beer-bloody mary hybrid and a strong, citrusy Yuzu beer. Both were so good I find myself alternating between trying new offerings and sticking to old favorites each time I visit.

If you’re in the neighborhood on a sunny day, Flying Couch makes for a perfect destination or a refreshing stop on a walk. They even hosted viewing parties for Danish football games during the last World Cup—so keep an eye out for future events.
