Finding my rhythm at Inflow Motion

If there is anything that increases my chances for a consistent workout, it’s convenience. I used to be a reformer pilates regular when I lived in Nørrebro, but as soon as we moved to Nordvest, that routine completely fell away. It just wasn’t close enough to stick.

So, when a local shared that a new studio was opening just minutes from my front door, I was beyond excited. I followed Inflow Motion immediately.

When Maren, the founder, started posting on Instagram asking for neighborhood input (what times we wanted classes, who she should reach out to), I reached out.

My intentions weren't entirely selfless; I desperately wanted a studio like this to open and survive in the area, and I wanted to help make that happen.

Maren and I eventually met for a coffee at Flere Fugle after work. We talked about the reality of starting a project from scratch, the shifting prices of everything while trying to make a living, and the constant changes in Nordvest. Hearing about her years of experience (teaching at the exact studios I used to go to in Nørrebro and managing spaces during maternity leaves) made me even more invested. She knows her craft.

Around the end of February, the newsletter arrived: bookings were open. I signed up for 8 sessions a month immediately and started waiting impatiently for April to finally start.

Last week, on the first day back from Easter break, I walked over to the studio. It’s right by Møntmestervej, and the walk there will soon become its own little ritual — except where I have (already) overslept and rushed there by bike. I’ve started bringing a thermos of tea for the walk, taking a slow morning stroll before the work day begins.

The space is exactly what I’d hoped for: simple, airy, and full of light with wooden shelves and big windows that make you feel part of the street. I was the first one there for my first class, and because I’d signed up early, Maren even had a little gift bag waiting for me with kombucha, tea, and probiotics and other little goodies.

Since I didn’t have any grip socks (which would have made my life much easier back in the day), I bought a pair at the studio. They’re blue with the Inflow Motion logo on the feet: a small thing, but they make the workout feel so much more stable.

The sessions are quite intimate. Maren is currently testing out different times and formats to see what the neighborhood actually prefers, which I love. She explains everything with verbal cues but will jump in and show you the more technical moves if they get complicated. She’s also incredibly open to questions, so you never feel like you’re just struggling in silence.

I tried two very different vibes:

  • A Reformer Foundations class: Tuesday mornings as a proper, high-energy session that woke up my whole body.

  • A Reformer Flow Morning class: Thursday mornings as a half deep stretching, half workout class.

I was definitely "good sore" after the first one, and after Thursday, I felt like I’d stretched parts of my body that hadn't moved in years. Friday morning was a bit of a struggle to get out of bed, but in the best way possible. Walking home afterward, taking a quick shower, and starting work feeling refreshed is such a luxury.

I really hope Inflow Motion finds its crowd and stays for the long haul. Having a spot like this in the area makes the neighborhood feel more complete.

Tips, Tricks & Info

  • Arrival: There isn’t really a waiting area inside, so Maren suggests showing up around 5 to 10 minutes before your class.

  • The Gear: You need grip socks! If you don't have them, you can buy the cool blue Inflow ones at the studio.

  • Booking: Check the website for class descriptions—she has everything from high-intensity to slow, stretch-focused sessions.

  • Pricing: Trial classes are 99 DKK. If you aren't ready for a monthly membership, she also offers a "klippekort" (class pass) for more flexibility.

  • The Neighborhood Loop: It’s perfectly located for a post-workout coffee with a short walk to Thoras, Flere Fugle, or Kaffedepartementet.
