A Neighborhood Pocket of Green: Utterslev Torv

Utterslev Torv is a small square at the far end of Rentemestervej, just a little beyond what most might consider the center of Nordvest. Nestled in a more residential corner of the neighborhood, it offers a calm, local charm that makes it worth the extra few minutes on your bike.

At the heart of the square is a small lake, surrounded by benches perfect for soaking up the sun, reading a book, or just pausing for a moment of quiet. It’s a little slice of nature tucked into the city—simple, green, and easy to reach.

But it’s not just the lake and the green that makes Utterslev Torv worth a visit. It’s also what surrounds it. On the square is Dorthea’s Bar, a cozy local favorite with a carefully curated selection of beer and wine. The bar often hosts events like Queer Speed Dating, Skak og Vin (chess and wine nights), or others like wine tasting, and its sunny outdoor tables are ideal for a relaxed afternoon drink.

On the other side of the square, you’ll find Nøgvendigv’Is, a small ice cream shop serving generous scoops at great prices. If you're in the sun and craving something sweet, treat yourself to a scoop—last time, I had yogurt and pistachio for just 30 kr, and it was excellent.

Utterslev Torv may not be on the main route through Nordvest, but it’s a lovely little detour. A peaceful green pocket, surrounded by local favorites—and just close enough to feel like a hidden neighborhood treasure.
